Mobile Eye Clinic

In 2006 Richmond Rotary Club proudly became a major donor for the Mobile Eye Clinic, a medical facility for use in Thailand. In March, Thai Princess Sirindhorm officially accepted the clinic from a delegation of the Rotary.

The Peres School

Richmond Rotary adopted Peres Elementary School in 1999. Since then our club has contributed over $50,000 and many man hours for the benefit of the children enrolled there.

Spirit of Excellence
Last year, 23 kids were sent to Walker Creek Science Camp for 5 days as a reward for completing the program. 26 kids were awarded Certificates of Merit and $50 gift certificates to Toys R US at the school's year end awards program.

Classroom Sponsors
At the school's ribbon cutting ceremony, then President Lawlis presented Principal Scot with checks made out to each teacher for $100 to help out with extra expenses they may incur in the classrooms during the year.

Bed Time Story Hour

Richmond Rotary adopted Peres Elementary School in 1999. Since then our club has contributed over $50,000 and many man hours for the benefit of the children enrolled there.
Rotarians donate their time to read to the kids, and to donate a brand new computer system to one lucky raffle winner. On November 15th, 2006, Jan Brown, George Egan, Margaret Morkowski, Ren Partridge, and EJ Shalaby significantly raised their reading scores, at least to the satisfaction of the assembled audience.

Community Involvement

National Institute for Arts & Disabilities
A crew of Rotarians descended on the NIAD facility one Saturday to sand, paint, weed upgrade lighting and install awnings.
