Community Church took us through a Valentines Day journey of two girls looking
for love in all the right places. It was a whimsical skit that employed songs
from many genres. Folk songs, Bluegrass, Irish, Blues, Rodgers and
Hammerstein and even a little Disney. Each performer took turns singing
individually and their combined voices in harmony were powerful indeed! Thank you ladies for a great program. ` Last Week On a sweetheart of a day, President Stoney opened the meeting with a prayer for freedom and peace on Earth. Dr. Herb Cole led us in the pledge and from Robert Louis Stevenson the thought for the day was; So long as we love we serve: so long as we are loved by others, I would almost say
that we are indispensable; and no man is useless while he has a friend Visiting Rotarians Rotarians With Guests Rhonda Harris's guests were Johnny McNeally, Leroy and Jacinth Appleby. Herb Cole brought his wife Normie. Don Hardison brought his wife Betty. Gloria Johnston was with returning guest Michael O'Neil from So. Cal. Hank brought Doreen for the second week in a row. Charlie Fender filled his table with guests from his church. Betsy and Forest Faneuf, and Felicity Wright, Pastor. Hanns brought his honey Honey. Paul Washington brought his future mother-in-law? And finally with a little prodding from the crowd, Stoney introduced his wife Mary Anna. Sunshine Report David K had cards circulating for Loren Straughn and Dick King who both have broken hips. He also gave his condolences to Herb and Norma for the loss of her brother. And perhaps with the best news of the day he announced that David Ninomiya is doing very well and we hope to see him at the club soon. Recognitions Announcements Paul Hodgen needs for volunteers for several Peres Events: 1. Read Across America / Dr Suess's Bday Friday, March 5th (1:30 - 2:40 PM) - we will have to sneak out of our Rotary meeting a little early. Don't pass up the chance to see one of our own as "the Cat in the Hat 2. Lawrence Hall Of Science Environmental Detectives Festival * Thursday March 11th (5:00 to 7:00 PM) See Doreen Covell for tickets to Pinole Rotary's fund raising event for their Centennial Project, Bocce Ball Courts. Bada Bing! will be a night of Cioppino, live music and dancing on February 26 at the Pinole Senior Center. Happy/Sad$$$ Judge Joni had a penitent $100 earmarked for Peres school to atone for her recent absences and a happy $5 for the 2nd place prize her son won at the area Science Fair. Gloria had a happy $20 to be back in our graces. She was looking pretty spry and said she was felling good. Jim Young had some happy dollars because he was spending the weekend in San Diego with his daughter. New Member President Stoney called Sponsor Herb Cole and former Rotarian Bob Dabney to the podium. Bob was reinducted into the club with a red badge and reminded of the requirements need to redeem his blue badge. Bob was then welcomed with a standing ovation from his peers.
Raffle After a sneak peak and a double dip in the bag, Norma Cole left the orange ball to be picked another day. A free lunch was her consolation. |
