Program
of October 25, 2002

Jim Beaver introduced our program speaker, Dion Aroner, Democratic Assemblywoman from the 14th Assembly District.

Assemblywoman Aroner discussed her concerns with financial problems in the area and the whole state and her thoughts on what might be done to change things.
She has been involved with helping financially troubled school systems and believes that Prop. 47 will offer some needed solutions.
She commented on the hard decisions awaiting the next Governor in California because of the significant forecasted gap between revenue and expenses for the state.
She thinks that it is time to open a dialogue on reevaluating Prop 13 for changes that could raise revenue for the state.
She thinks that the State Health Care system is overwhelmed and is a proponent of the concept of "rationalizing" health care.
When her term ends this year she will take two years off in preparation for a candidacy run for State Senate
