What music ! What Choreography ! This report will be short because words cannot describe the excitement that flowed through through the room as Joe and Jet went through their paces. All of us agreed, that we had never seen anything quite like their performances. Past Presidents Jet Beaver and Joe Bagley through the careful narration of Past President Leslie Levy led us on a fun-filled tour through the life and times of Richard Brandes. From his earliest days in Southern California to the present, Rich has been happiest on the water on a boat. Whether it be a wash-tub from babyhood to canoes at camp or Coast Guard Cutters from his days of command in the Coast Guard to today where delights in sailing with friends and family, Rich Brandes has always been called to the seas and the lakes and the rivers and the ponds and the puddles. Rich, you have been a great Captain of the Richmond Rotary. Your leadership skills and your good will have carried the organization forward to meeting greater goals. Thank you and your family for all of their contributions. Good luck to you in all of your future endeavors. Happy $$$$$$ Recognitions The Richmond Lotto had no winner. Again ! Respectfully submitted, Giuseppe Verdi. "The only person who gets everything done by Friday is Robinson Crusoe." . |
Greetings Fellow Rotarians: Back from the lost week am I ! Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday. Hope Don Hardison is on the road to a quick recovery after breaking his leg. Don, you still stand tall to me. The next meeting of Richmond Rotary is set for Friday, July 12 at noon at the Mira Vista Country Club. Last Meeting: It was Demotion Day. Incoming President David Brown continued his trek through Europe after the Rotary International convention in Europe so Past President Leslie Levy did her usual steller job of presiding. The very apt thought for the day was delivered by Lisa Brandes who quoted Douglas Adams, "I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I ended up where I intended to be." Visiting Rotarians: Guests: Rotarians with Guests -- Outgoing (as in exiting although he can be extroverted when called upon )President Richard Brandes introduced his family, wife Lisa and sons Nick and Alex. Charles Felker's guest was Jim Young and Richard Alexander introduced us to his son Nate. Announcements Richard Brandes reported that Richmond Rotary had an excellent showing in Barcelona with himself, Herb Cole, David Brown, and Werner Schwarz in attendance. Werner and David stayed on the Continent and missed the world's greatest demotion. Alas ! Some of the year's highlights during Richard Brandes' term included: A significant increase in new members into the club. We exceeded our goal for the year. Donations, financial and in-kind, to Peres School brought new computers as well as classroom support in a wide variety of ways. The visit from the Russian dentists demonstrated the Club's great generosity. The Christams in April event brought out a large number of Rotarians who rejuvenated both the habitants and a house in Richmond. |
